LDPE / HDPE

Low density polyethylene (LDPE) is an integral part of Poly Hi Solidur’s polyolefin product line. LDPE is more flexible than HDPE, which makes it a good choice for prosthetic devices, most of which are either drape formed or vacuum formed. Its impact resistance makes it a natural for impact pads, while its easy machinability makes it a good choice for fabricated parts where chemical and corrosion resistance is demanded.

LDPE is stress relieved and a “natural” color. It is available in 48″ x 96″ sheets with gauge sizes ranging from 1/16″ to 1″.

HDPE (High Density – Polyethylene)
Poly Hi Solidur’s high density polyethylene (HDPE) is used in a variety of applications and industries where excellent impact resistance, high tensile strength, low moisture absorption and chemical- and corrosion-resistance properties are required.

End uses of HDPE include:
Industries: Chemical storage, Liquids storage, Medical, Recreational vehicles, Thermoforming
Applications: Light duty chain guides, Orthotic and prosthetic devices, Secondary containment, Tanks,Thermoformed material handling devices, Water storage

 

Availability: 
Poly Hi Soildur’s HDPE is stress relieved and available in:
• Black, 48″ x 96″ sheets with gauge sizes ranging from 1/8″ to 1″
• Natural: 48″ x 96″ sheets with gauge sizes ranging from 1/16″ to 4″
• Natural: 48″ x 120″ sheets with gauge sizes ranging from 1/8″ to 2″
• Natural: 60″ x 120″ sheets with gauge sizes ranging from 1/8″ to 1″
• Extruded (up to 1″ thick) and pressed sheet (from 18″ through 4″ thick) 

 

 

 

HDPE Rod (High Density Polyethylene)

 

Characteristics:

• Excellent machine ability

• Good chemical and heat resistance (200°F range)

• Low coefficient of friction

• Exhibits outstanding low temperature strength in contrast to Poly-Pro

• FDA approved

• For UV resistance carbon black is added to the HDPE extrusion compound

• Very good abrasion resistance

•Colors: Natural White and Black
• Sizes: Up to 20″ diameter
• 24″ and 271/2″- Black color only
